Numerology is arguably the oldest of the divination arts and often the least understood. In the Complete Book of Numerology, Joyce Keller and her collaborator and husband Jack Keller provide a simple, intelligent, and useful guide which outlines the history, the various systems (Pythagorean, Chaldean, and Chinese), as well as the uses and applications of numerology. From numerology as applied to names and what it can tell you, the concept and reality of "lucky" and "unlucky" numbers, and the practical applications of numerology (for success, evaluating relationships, and to anticipate the larger cycles of life), the Complete Book of Numerology provides readers with a solid understanding, allowing them to utilize and incorporate into their life this, the science of the ancients.

Amazon.com Review
There are those who think in numbers--who spend their days adding, subtracting, and tracking numbers, such as time, birthdays, and people's ages. For these folks, numerology can be a fascinating field of inquiry, in which numbers unlock the secrets of destiny, soul mates, and careers. Clearly, Joyce and Jack Keller are number people (Joyce Keller has appeared on numerous television shows, including Oprah, Geraldo, and A Current Affair). Joyce's playful enthusiasm and Jack's engineering mentality seep into every page of The Complete Book of Numerology, as they lay out mathematical formulas for finding your lucky number or figuring out your innate strengths and weaknesses. (Don't worry, all the equations are straightforward, count-on-your-fingers math.) The Kellers emphasize that numerology has an abundance of applications, including helping readers clarify a life path. (If your number is 9, you are on the path of understanding; if it's 11, you are on the path of inspiration.) They also delve into soul mates: "If you were born on the 23rd of a month, your soul mate's birth date may very well be the 3rd, 5th, or 27th." Skeptics may find their numerology formulas a little too far-reaching: they even cover weight-loss suggestions according to your birth date. Count on a playfully written discussion with plenty of practical applications. --Gail Hudson

Exhaustive, Not Authoritative
By robo369
My guess is that the word "complete" used in the title refers to the fact that almost every facet of numerology has been addressed in this book. This makes it worth a look, just for curiosity sake; however, if you are serious about numerology and seek in-depth, accurate information, I would recommend Lynn Buess (Numerology for the New Age), Hans Decoz (Numerology), and Kathleen Roquemore (It's All in Your Numbers) as far better sources of good information.
For those of you looking for the definitive, archetypal book on numerology, look no further. I mean, stop looking. It doesn't exist. There are almost as many opinions as there are authors when it comes to numerology, so it is essential to adopt only that which proves useful and accurate, while discarding all the rest. As you research and ply your craft your confidence, discrimination and insight will grow; as you evolve so too will your technique. This is a time consuming and intellectually demanding process, but so is any form of serious study.
Although dubbed as a "science" (I guess because it involves a tangible methodology based upon mathematical calculations), numerology is also an art form. The scientific principles of symbolism, energy and vibration may be the tools used to decode the data, but the overall process of sculpting the interpretation speaks of pure craftsmanship and artistic expression. No book can substitute for actual experience, so get out there and test your work on real people able to give you good feedback. This is the only way to develop your skills and gain a true understanding.
For those seeking self-knowledge, numerology is a great place to start, but like the morning newspaper... don't believe everything you read, no matter what the title claims. Personally, I would avoid any advice that asked me to invest my faith (and energy) in a "quick fix" approach, such as lucky numbers and easy ways to win lotto. The book in question invests a great deal of emphasis on these sections, which served to undermine my confidence in the author's offerings for the remaining chapters. Time and time again new concepts and techniques were presented, but nothing was explored to any great depth. Many descriptions were limited to a few words. Generalities are a dime a dozen and better left to fortune cookies and carnival psychics. This volume might be more accurately described as "The Jack-Of-All-Trades Book of Numbers For Fun and Profit."
Alternatively, an excellent source of specialist info that is based on a numerological system of sorts, is written by Dan Millman (The Life You Were Born to Live). It isn't "typical" numerology, but I would highly recommend it to those people in search of solid content regarding "life purpose" issues. It would be far easier than trying to piece together a chart for yourself using conventional numerology techniques, and because the scope of the book is uniquely dedicated to the "life purpose" issue, it is able to explore more deeply, and in great detail. I found it to be a very useful source of information promoting personal insight.

There's nothing 'complete' about this piece of fluff
By A Customer
This book is not for anyone who knows anything about numerology. I wonder how much time Regis Philbin invested reading this book! Silly me - I bought it because of his recommendation on the jacket. Between the colorless one word definitions of numbers substituted for character analysis, career choices and my future, 14,000 years of history from cro-magnan cave civilization to Plato, Pythagoras and every other number maven in six short paragraphs without transitions, numerous angel sightings and biblical sounding affirmations for miracles, many pages invested in guidance for recognizing winning lottery numbers , confusing astrology info interjected, confused organization of material and a difficult to read type squeezed onto a penurious publisher's page- there is little meat to digest and after reading the jacket hype, I am very sorry I didn't buy angel blessed lottery tickets with the money I paid.

Interesting and somewhat accurate, sub paths?
By A Customer
I found this book interesting. I'm not a serious student of numerology. I wasn't looking for a long history of numerology, and found the history in this book was the right amount for me. Otherwise, I thought the number challanges described towards the end of the book were extremely accurate for me. All of the stuff on individual letter analysis was interesting and seemed right. Something that frustrated me was the sub path section. I could not figure out from the book how to do the calculation, and the example did not seem to relate to what was given as the result. A better example would have been nice. If anyone knows how the subpaths bit is done, please post it.
